Test in Google's Rich Results Test
- Google stopped showing how-to rich results in 2023, so this markup will not add step snippets to Google results.
- It is still valid schema.org: it states the steps, total time and image in a form other search engines and AI tools can parse.
- Mark up only steps that are visible on the page, in the same order.
Schema helps, but GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Perplexity also need your robots.txt to let them in and real text in the raw HTML. Check it free:
AI Search Readiness Check →Which fields? The ones Google's structured-data docs list as required or recommended for that type (Service, which Google doesn't document, uses core schema.org properties). Valid markup makes a page eligible for rich results; it doesn't guarantee them. Google no longer shows FAQ rich results (fully retired in 2026); Software App rich results need real ratings.
